Lessons learned:)

Good riding today- and very hot. Legs feel pretty good. Had a fun text from a friend, telling me to "Pedal, M%¥#¥<¥#<, pedal!!!"
It was annoying today- at about 75 miles I rode through a little town, stopped and got liquid, and rode on through- figuring I still had 20 miles in me. I did. Unfortunately- I got about 9mi further (up a massive 2mile hill), and when I flipped over the next section of the map- I realized there wasn't going to be ANYWHERE to camp in the next 30-40 miles. Damn. Not enough water for the night. Could probably get some from a house, but would then have to camp illegally in someone's woods.
I figured I should probably teach myself a lesson. I turned around and rode the 9mi back to that town, Mineral, where I'm camped for free behind a firehouse. I can't complain, though- living the dream:)

Good first day!

So, yesterday went well. About 83 miles. Stopped at a counrty restaurant for $1 dogs, and a great little farmer's market for peaches. Pulled into Mechanicsville, VA and went straight to the bike shop- Pedal Power Bikes- the folks there were great. I got some air and asked if they knew of any churches where I could maybe ask to camp- and they offered me the back yard of the shop! So I camped in a little book under some low apple trees. A nice patter of rain as I drifted to sleep. Slept sound.
Day 2 begins with stretching, lots of oatmeal, and a coffee at S-bux.
Signing off-
